Smit youth’s body recovered from waterfall

SHILLONG: The body of a youth from Smit, Meban Khrawnam Kshiar, was recovered on Tuesday morning around 8 am, a day after he fell from the top of a waterfall on Sunday.
Informing this here, the Sordar of Thadan village, Shaster Lyngdoh Nongbri, said, “The villagers of Thadan along with the family members of Kshiar, who stayed overnight at the village, were able to retrieve the body in the morning”.
It may be mentioned that Kshiar fell to his death from the top of the Kshaid Ryngkthem waterfall on Sunday afternoon when he, along with six others, were out on a picnic.
Nongbri was earlier informed that the the deceased youth wanted to take pictures but fell down due to the slippery and windy conditions.
Nongbri said that the waterfall is around 70 metres high, adding that the village has warned people not to climb atop the waterfall to avert any disaster.
