TURA: Fifteen persons working in the court of the chief judicial magistrate of East Garo Hills at Williamnagar have been directed to self quarantine as a precautionary measure following the detection of the first Covid-19 infection in the state.
The fifteen persons have been asked to quarantine at their respective homes as the chief judicial magistrate of the court had visited Bethany Hospital in Shillong for a medical check-up last month.
“The CJM had visited the hospital on March 24 for check-up and it is already 14 days but as per health guidelines 15 of them has been told to self quarantine for two weeks,” informed East Garo Hills deputy commissioner Swapnil Tembe. The CJM who is currently in Shillong has also gone into self quarantine, informed the DC. He had attended office in Williamnagar shortly after his return from Shillong.
The state government had announced that all those who visited the hospital or came in contact with anyone who had been to Bethany Hospital recently should contact authorities and undertake self quarantine as a precautionary measure following the death of the doctor from the disease.
Health authorities in the state have also begun contact tracing to identify all those who visited the hospital.
One person from South Garo hills who visited Bethany hospital to meet a relative has also been asked to quarantine at home in Baghmara for two weeks as a precautionary measure even though 14 days have passed since the visit.
