Govt announces Rs 3000 grant to citizens stranded outside

SHILLONG: The state government has announced a one-time grant of Rs 3000 to citizens of the state who are currently stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID-19 lockdown.
The money is being provided through the Chief Minister’s Special Grant taking into consideration that many residents including students, workers and those from other professions are unable to return to the state due to the suspension of air and rail transportation in view of the nationwide lockdown.
According to a statement issued by the chief secretary, all individuals wanting to avail of the cash support have been instructed to fill up a short online form providing their information including bank account details and documentary evidence of currently being outside the state.
The weblink for the form has been made available at www.meghalayaonline.gov.in/covid/.
The cash will then be directly credited to the bank account of the individuals.
As per the statement, respective state governments have been providing relief to stranded citizens of the state, the monetary grant is being sanctioned to provide additional relief to the beneficiaries.
