Auto workshops to remain open in EKH, WJH

SHILLONG: Truck repair workshops on national and state highways within East Khasi Hills are exempted from the purview of the curfew.
In a statement on Monday, the District Magistrate informed that workshops are exempted from the purview of the Curfew Order and Prohibitory Order under Section 144 CrPC issued on April 19 and promulgated in Shillong agglomeration and villages of the district respectively.
However, the District Magistrate said that strict observance and compliance of protocols and advisories of the government in respect of social distancing, wearing of masks, no spitting in public places and proper hygiene practices are to be ensured.
Fishing (marine) aquaculture industry including feeding and maintenance, harvesting, processing, packaging cold chain, sale and marketing hatcheries, feed plants, commercial aquaria and workers for all these activities are exempted from the purview of the prohibitory order in West Jaintia Hills.
The workshops for maintenance of government ambulances, government vehicles on COVID-19 duties are also exempted.
Workshops, including Dowell Auto Workshop, Ladthalaboh, Jowai to deal with petrol vehicles and BD Auto Works, Mihmyntdu to deal with diesel vehicles, Lytan Auto Spare Parts, Mooralong, Jowai, Rani Motors Genuine Spare Parts, Mihmyntdu and Mahindra Genuine Spare Parts, Lad Nartiang, Jowai will also be open.
