SHILLONG: State BJP vice president KC Boro has asked Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to extend help to the youths from Tikrikilla, West Garo Hills, working in different parts of the country like Kerala, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and some even in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, who are stranded after the implementation of the nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19.
“Around 50 youths from Tikrikilla area have been stranded in their respective places of work due to the lockdown and are in great financial trouble at present as well as facing food scarcity. These are all labourers working in different private companies,” Boro said.
Pointing out at the grant of Rs 3,000 for stranded students, which was recently announced, the BJP leader asked the chief minister to extend such help to the aforementioned workers as well.
It may be mentioned that the state government had earlier announced a one-time grant of Rs 3,000 to citizens of the state who are currently stranded in other parts of the nation due to the prevailing situation concerning COVID-19.
