TURA: The All Garo Hills Anganwadi Workers Association (AGHAWA) from Tura has urged Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to provide them relief in the form of essential commodities during the Covid-19 lockdown period.

In their letter to Sangma, the workers said that their meagre honorarium was unable to meet their daily needs and they are forced to face hardships despite the fact that they have been rendering their duties sincerely at all times. The workers further reminded that they have been given extra duties at high risk Covid-19 areas which they have to attend.

Taking all these into consideration, the workers urged that at least 15 Kgs of Rice, 3 Kgs of Dal, 3 litres of Mustard Oil and 3 Kgs of potatoes is provided as relief to each and every Anganwadi worker in Garo Hills.
