SHILLONG: Samples of all the 11 COVID-19 patients in the state were taken on Tuesday and sent to NEIGRIHMS for retests to ascertain their current status after they completed 14 days under treatment on Monday.
The results are expected on Wednesday.
“If the results are negative they will be retested within 24 hours and if found negative again, they will be considered as cured”, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said here on Tuesday.
The state had recorded eight positive COVID-19 cases — six on April 15 and two more on April 16 — after the first on April 13.
Among the eight, six are family members and two helpers of the doctor, who was the first patient in the state. Three others including two family members and a family friend tested positive subsequently.
The 69-year-old doctor at a Shillong-based hospital had tested positive on April 13 and passed away on April 15.
Since April 20, no positive cases have been reported in the state. The government believes that the source of the virus in the state was one family.
