GUWAHATI: The Kamrup Metro district administration on Thursday removed the containment zone tag from a residential apartment here after no COVID-19 positive case was detected among the occupants ever since restrictions were imposed 26 days back.
The district administration had sealed and declared Spanish Garden, a luxury apartment located in the heart of the city, a containment zone on April 4, 20 20 after one of its residents tested positive for the virus.
It further extended the same restriction for an additional period of 14 days with effect from April 19, 2020.
“As no COVID-19 positive case has been detected since declaration of Spanish Garden apartment and its periphery as containment zone, hence as per guidelines received from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the containment zone is no longer effective and that the restrictions that were so imposed have been withdrawn with effect from April 30, 2020,” the order issued by the Kamrup metro deputy commissioner on Thursday, said.
“However, in the interest of greater common good, the restrictions imposed in connection with the lockdown will remain in force till further notification of the government of India is issued from the ministry of home affairs,” the order read.
The state government had on April 23 last conducted rapid antibody tests on residents of Spanish Garden.
