TURA: East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Swapnil Tembe has sought the help of civil society organisations (CSOs) and NGOs for providing relief and rehabilitation to people in distress, especially due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and lockdown in the district.
The services of the civil groups and NGOs have been requested in providing food, shelter, masks, running mobile health clinics for the stranded migrant workers, destitute and other marginal groups as well as for creating awareness to maintain social distancing in public places.
The interested CSOs and NGOs have been asked to send their proposals to dc.williamnagar@g mail.com.
Rice, pulses released
Meanwhile, Tembe also informed that the regular quota of rice for May for the beneficiaries under AAY, PHH and non-NFSA in the district has been release.
The monthly quota of rice under AAY is 35 kg per card holder at Rs 3 per kg, for PHH 5 kg per card holder at Rs 3 per kg and 7.215 kg at Rs. 10 to Rs. 14 per kg for card holders under non-NFSA.
The communiqué also stated that pulses under PMGKAY have also been released for April for families under AAY and PHH category which can be availed free of cost.
