Madrid: Measures announced by the Spanish government has opened the way for the return of football in Spain before the end of June.
Spanish football authorities on Tuesday rejected the idea that Spain could follow the example set by France and Holland to end the current season, with the idea being to try and end the campaign with the 11 remaining matches in the Liga Santander and Liga Smart Bank season to be played behind closed doors. The four-stage plan put forward by the government of Pedro Sanchez would allow for players to return to their clubs on Monday May 4 to begin individual work with a coach after being tested for the coronavirus. The next stage of the down-scaled season in Spain would allow sessions to be held among small groups of up to six players on May 18th, with those groups being increased to 8 from May 25th and with two coaches also allowed onto the training ground. June 1st would be the date set for the entire squad to work together. (PTI)
