Shillong: In order for the public to purchase essential construction materials, the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills district has directed identified wholesale hardware stores in Shillong to open from May 1 to 3 from 9 am to 4pm.
According to the orders issued on Wednesday, the identified wholesale hardware stores are permitted to open specifically for loading of materials to be delivered to the permitted construction sites and identified retail hardware stores in all Community & Rural Development (C&RD) Blocks of East Khasi Hills district except Mylliem C&RD Block.
According to the orders, loading will be strictly regulated by executive magistrates stationed on site and there should be no retail sale from the wholesale hardware stores and contravention of the order will cause such shop to be closed.
Further, the orders stated that identified retail hardware stores within C&RD Blocks of East Khasi Hills district except Mylliem C&RD Block will open on dates and timings to be intimated from time to time.
