Umden, Sohra areas sanitised

Nongpoh: Several villages besides Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank, shops and market areas in Umden were sanitised and face masks were distributed to the people of the locality to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic on Friday.
The sanitisation programme was sponsored by local legislator Mayralborn Syiem in collaboration with the Swachh Bharat Team of Ri Bhoi district.

A meeting was also held at DUIA hall, where Syiem urged the headmen of various villages under Umden to immediately constitute the Community COVID-19 Management Committee (CCMC) at their village as instructed by the district administration as the government has allowed citizens stranded outside the state to return, to make sure that the returnees are welcome without any stigmatisation and bias.
Syiem along with local MDC, Balajied Rani urged the people to maintain hand hygiene, wear masks and keep social distancing.

Health workers on Friday disinfected areas in Laitryngew including PHC, Iew Sohra, Pdengshnong, Marai, Saitsohpen, Lad Thanad, Sohra Police Station and CRPF Camp in a move to prevent the spread of the pandemic.
The Chief Executive Member of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, and Sohra MDC Titos W Chyne urged the people to be cautious with regard to COVID-19 which has affected the country.
