Child rights panel gets interim chairperson

SHILLONG: Secretary of Social Welfare department, Cara Kharkongor, has been handed over the additional charge of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
Official sources said that it is an interim arrangement as procedures will have to be followed for the appointment of the chairperson for the commission.
Noted lawyer and first chairperson of the commission, Meena Kharkongor, had retired on February this year. She had joined the post in 2014.
