Police arrest three with suspected drugs

SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills Police has arrested three alleged drug peddlers including one woman while they were transporting yellowish orange powder weighing 11.63 grams suspected to be drugs at Mawryngkeng junction in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The SP of East Khasi Hills, Claudia Lyngwa, said in the continuous efforts to eradicate the drug menace in the city by concentrating on targeting the drug sale-purchase network, the Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) team along with officers and staff of Mawryngkneng Police Station arrested the three persons after tracking their movements.
The arrested have been identified as Mrinal Kanti Das (31), Rakesh Barua (26) and Moitre Barua (44).
A transparent plastic packet containing suspected contraband weighing 11.63 grams and an empty pink soap box with another transparent plastic packet inside were recovered and seized under due procedures of NDPS Act.
