Bengalee Society provides relief to border residents

SHILLONG: The members of Shillong Bengalee Society in collaboration with Bharat Sevasram Sangha , Shillong, in continuation of their ongoing relief work in various parts of Shillong and surrounding areas, distributed relief materials to the needy villagers from border villages of Umtaru, Ichamati, Dhorom, Khakumrin at Ichhamati proper on Wednesday.
The relief materials in adequate quantities were distributed to 320 needy families from the villages.
The headman, local police and the BSF officials at Ichamati extended support and co-operation in organising the relief work.
The logistical and transportation support for the project was extended by the head quarters of BSF 123 Battalion, Shillong.
In a statement, the Society said it will strive to reach the needy in the state during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
