Police cry foul over ‘fake’ news on written exam

SHILLONG: Police on Wednesday said a recent post in a website announcing recruitment in the department is ‘fake news.’
According to the police, a website by the name Exams Daily had posted the item on May 18.
It said, “This is the general information for the Candidates, Meghalaya Police Board has going to conduct the Written examination to fill up the Constable, Sub-Inspector & Other post. The Exam will be held on May 2020. The Written Examination Admit Card will be released soon on the official website. Candidates may check the Admit Card & Exam Date Details in our website.” (sic)
Terming it as fake news, the police said the department has not issued any official communication regarding the conduct of exams against the existing vacancy. “Further information regarding the conduct of Physical Endurance Test (PET) and subsequent exams will be intimated by the Central Recruitment Board (CRB) through the department’s website i.e. megpolice.gov.in”, a statement said.
