COVID-19 hits NEHU day celebration

SHILLONG: NEHU celebrated its University Day with a low key affair due to the COVID-19 pandemic following protocols, on Tuesday, a statement here said.
After a flag hoisting Prof. SK Srivastava, vice chancellor, NEHU spoke briefly about the challenges the pandemic has caused in the field of education.
He said, ‘the faculty, staff and students are trying to minimise the academic losses due to COVID -19 by engaging in online activities’. Srivastava appreciated his colleagues who despite various inconveniences and constraints are trying to serve the cause of higher education in general and the state in particular.
Contribution for PM CARES
He further thanked the employees of NEHU including teaching and non-teaching staff for contributing to the PM CARES and the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the fight against coronavirus.
Srivastava also expressed his appreciation to the corona warriors – the doctors, nurses, sanitation workers, law enforcers and other supporting staff — for their sacrifice in the field.
