GUWAHATI:: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal called on the Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi at Raj Bhavan and discussed a range of issues concerning the state and its people including COVID-19 situation and flood on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Sonowal apprised the Governor of the COVID 19 situation in Assam and State government’s response to deal with the situation especially in view of the recent surge of positive cases.
He told the Governor that though the State is experiencing spike in COVID 19 cases, the government is coping the problem well with adequate quarantine and isolated ward facilities. He also said that the adequate number of equipment required to provide medical assistance to the affected people are also available with the state.
The conversation also focused on economic activities amid lockdown to revamp economic health of the state hit by corona virus pandemic.
Chief Minister Sonowal also drew the attention of the Governor to the torrential rains that have created flood like situation submerging seven districts of the state. He apprised the Governor that deputy commissioners of the affected districts were directed to be ready with their disaster response strategies to lend rescue and relief to the affected people.
He also told the Governor that some of the revenue villages have been submerged in the wave of flood and adequate arrangements have been made to reach out to the stranded people with institutional response.
