SHILLONG: A social organisation, BAKDIL, distributed ration to a total of 869 families under the Diocese of Tura, a statement issued here, said. The organisation was supported by Manos Unidas, Spain, besides its staff who contributed 8 per cent of their salaries. Manos Unidas provided support to 700 households.
The ration included 21 kg of rice, three kg of potatoes, two kg of red lentil, a kg of salt, a litre of mustard oil, etc.
The 700 families were divided into clusters of 25 to 150 households in each group located in seven blocks of Garo Hills — Rongram, Demdema, Dalu, Chokpot, Gasuapara, Songsak and Selsella.
Starting from Danakgre Parish, Tura, on May 14 to Purakhasia WSHG Federation on May 31, the BAKDIL team traveled tirelessly to reach out to the village people to distribute the relief.
The Bishop of Tura, Rev. Bishop Andrew also accompanied the team to Roram Digra Ading village.
