SHILLONG: Head of the English Department, NEHU, Prof Mala Renganthan, has filed an RTI application for eliciting the rationale of the arbitrary decision of central university authorities to strip her and her husband (who is the HOD of Political Science department) of their status of HOD.
Prof Renganthan said that they were removed on flimsy grounds and she has already filed an RTI besides moving Ministry of Human Resource Development on the matter.
Expressing dejection, she said that they had given 26 years of their services to the institution with not a single black mark on her performance, but NEHU authorities unfairly removed her.”
I don’t know in what way I have failed as a head,” she said. She also informed that two weeks after their removal, they were asked to give explanation which they have submitted.
Meanwhile, different student bodies and teachers have already submitted petitions of solidarity with them while protesting their removal.
