Chief Justice visits Williamnagar, distributes computers for schools

TURA: Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court, Justice Biswanath Sommader, who is on his maiden visit to the Garo Hills handed over computers and other educational implements to schools while on a visit to Williamnagar in east Garo hills, on Wednesday.

Accompanied by the Law Secretary, Wilfred Khyllep, Justice Sommader visited the Court of the District and Sessions Judge at the district headquarters town and gave away the computers and other education equipment to the selected schools under the Legal Literacy Club Scheme-2012.

Addressing the gathering during the programme, the chief justice said that the computers and other equipment given to the schools would help to bridge the gap of learning post COVID-19 pandemic and encouraged the students to make full utilization of the learning process.

The schools which received the computers included Green Yard School, Educere and Loyola College of Williamnagar and Songsak Agitokgre Higher Secondary School of Songsak C&RD Block.

The Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), TTM Sangma highlighted about the Legal Literacy Club Scheme, 2012, while Chief Judicial Magistrate, FS Sangma, delivered the welcome address.

On the day, Justice Sommader also visited the site for staff and judges quarters at Denggagre locality of Williamnagar.
