SHILLONG: The Community COVID-19 Management Team of Jaiaw Langsning on Friday sought clarification from the state government after a patient was tested positive for COVID-19 in Dr H Gordon Robert Hospital recently.
The management team which consists of the members of the Dorbar Shnong, Seng Samla, Seng Kynthei, ANM, ASHA, Aganwadi etc, convened a meeting attended by government officials and the District Surveillance Team of East Khasi Hills, and doctors of Dr H Gordon Robert Hospital.
The Jaiaw Langsning traditional heads called the meeting as the residents of the locality expressed apprehension with regard to the spread of the disease.
Dr Robert Marak, District Surveillance officer of the state Health Department allayed all fears and maintained that the Dr H Gordon Robert Hospital had set up all safety measures in place to contain the spread of the virus. Again, Dr R Nongrum, Medical Superintendent of Robert Hospital and Dr Meban Kharkongor, who is looking after COVID-19 patients, informed the Dorbar Shnong that the hospital was ready in case of any COVID-19 emergency.
As per the information provided by the hospital authorities, there are 30 rooms in the isolation ward.
