Nongjri bars traders from outside

SHILLONG: The Dorbar Shnong of Nongjri in South West Khasi Hills has prohibited people from outside the village to trade at Nongjri market without prior permission from the traditional heads. Besides restricting people from outside the village, the dorbar shnong has also barred those from outside the state from trading anywhere in Nongjri in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The prohibitions are in view of the sense of insecurity that people have due to the pandemic”.
