SHILLONG: Executive Member (EM) in-charge of Trade department, Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Rangkynsai Kharbuki, said that he will set up an inquiry into the ‘lost’ files of the department.
Kharbuki said that officers will be called to find out whether this anomaly is true or merely a rumour.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, he said, “We do not know if it is just a rumour or truth. I will work it out and call the officers in this regard”.
He requested the KHADC CEM, Titosstarwell Chyne, to give him time to work on the matter.
The former CEM of the Council, Latiplang Kharkongor, had alleged that over hundred files of the Trade department have gone missing when Paul Lyngdoh was in- charge of the department.
He had said that the ‘missing’ files were the applications for fresh licenses as well as renewal of old ones issued by the Trade department during the tenure of the former Executive Committee led by United Democratic Alliance.
The allegation made by Kharkongor had been refuted by Lyngdoh, who said that files from the department were not missing.
