MLA lays base for Smit road

SHILLONG:  Chairman Meghalaya State Planning Board (MSPB), Lambor Malngiang, on Monday laid the foundation stone for the construction of 2-km internal road at Urmasi-U-Joh village, Smit, which has been in a dilapidated condition for over two decades.
Speaking on the occasion, Malngiang said the laying of the foundation stone will fulfill a long-cherished aspiration of the people of the area.
Chief Engineer (NH), PWD (Roads), BP Marak, informed that an amount of Rs 2 crore has been sanctioned for the first phase of the project which will include construction, metalling and blacktopping of the 1.5-km length area of the road, including four link roads.
