SHILLONG: The East Jaintia National Council (EJNC) has asked the state government to reconsider the transfer of Deepak Kumar Palecha as the new Superintendent of Police of East Jaintia Hills in place of Vivekanand Singh attributing the demand to communication barriers between locals and high-rank officers.
It suggested that the SP should be someone of Khasi or Pnar origin, who is well acquainted with the local language.
President of EJNC, Sambormi Lyngdoh, in a statement, said that the council had witnessed communication problems between the locals and the officials in the past. Stating that most of the locals are still not fluent with Hindi or English, the ENJC said that it may lead to misunderstanding or misinterpretation.
