MLA lambasts vandals in Ri Bhoi

NONGPOH: Jirang MLA Sosthenes Sohtun has come down hard on the alleged vandals involved in destroying the house of a differently-abled woman on Sunday night at Jirang in Ri Bhoi.
Sohtun maintained that people should not take the law into their own hands.
The police had suspected that the family of Lurstarwell Rani, who had allegedly raped the differently-abled woman, for vandalising the house.
Calling for stern action against crimes such as rape, he said that those involved in the incident should be booked under relevant sections of the law irrespective of who they are and whatever political affiliations they have. “It is very unfortunate that this incident happened in my constituency. I strongly condemn such acts,” the Jirang legislator said.
Lurstarwell Rani, is under judicial custody of Ri Bhoi District Court.
