SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has invited applications and nominations for the Padma Awards — Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri — to be announced on Republic Day, 2021.
The awards seek to recognise work of any distinction and are given for distinguished and exceptional achievements/services in all fields of disciplines such as art, literature and education, sports, medicines, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, civil service, trade and industry, etc.
All persons without any distinction of race, occupation, position or sex are eligible for the Padma Awards.
Intending individuals from the district who desire their names to be recommended to the government for the Padma Awards have to send their nominations to the office of the Deputy Commissioner in Shillong, on or before August 14, 2020.
The deputy commissioner also informed that details are available on the district website eastkhasihills.gov.in.
