Shops, hotels to open in WGH as curfew extends till July 8

TURA: Nearly normal function has returned to West Garo Hills in the wake of the Covid-19 situation with almost all major shops and establishments being allowed to open even as the curfew in the district was extended by the Deputy Commissioner till July 8.

 

As per the new order issued by Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh, hotels are allowed to open with strict compliance with the SOP issued by the Tourism Department, Government of Meghalaya for which permission will have to be obtained from the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Tura. The opening of restaurants, cafes, food-outlets and barber shops/ beauty parlours and salons has also been allowed with strict compliance to all protocols and guidelines.

 

In Tura Town area, all shops including Tura Super Market, Urban Marketing Hub, Sundare Shopping Complex, Rikman Shopping Complex, N M Complex, Sora Complex, GHADC New Building are to remain open from Monday to Saturday (9 am to 5 pm) and the same will be monitored by the Tura Municipal Board (TMB). However, restrictions on hawkers on crowded junctions and main roads continue to be in place and all shops are to maintain social distancing norms strictly.

 

With regard to sporting activities, Non-Contact and Indirect-Contact Sporting activities have been allowed subject to strict compliance with the SOP issued by Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Government of Meghalaya. The export of minor minerals is also allowed to operate with strict compliance with SOP issued by the Government of Meghalaya, Commerce and Industries Department.

 

Other than these, all other restrictions, exemptions and advisories continue to remain the same.
