Ex gratia payment for electrocuted victims now Rs 2.5 L

SHILLONG: The state Cabinet on Thursday approved a proposal to increase ex gratia for victims of electrical accidents from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2.50 lakh.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma informed that ex gratia amount has been increased by almost 100 per cent in other categories like damage to crop, households and livestock. The Cabinet also gave the go ahead to the proposal for constitution of two separate single window committees to be headed PWD Secretary and Chief Secretary for procedural clearance of the administrative and technical approval of projects and infrastructures that are above Rs 50 crore for the National Games 2022.
“We were required to constitute these two single window committees to avoid unnecessary delays to get the necessary technical and administrative approvals for mega projects of the National Games 2020,” the chief minister said. The creation of the committees is expected to ensure quick approval regarding technical and administrative approval of the mega projects that are worth more than Rs 50 crore.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet also approved the Amendment of Service Rules in the Legal and Metrology department besides clearing the appointment of retired Colonel MM Singh for the post of Zila Sainik Welfare Officer in Tura.
