MLA urges CM for steps to have COVID centres ready

GUWAHATI: In the wake of increasing coronavirus cases in Meghalaya, Nongpoh MLA, Mayral Born Syiem has urged chief minister, Conrad K Sangma to take up immediate measures for arranging COVID care centres at Nongpoh and Umsning.

In a letter on Thursday, Syiem requested the chief minister for speedy completion of the GNM Nursing School at Nongpoh, including road construction, electrification and water supply, so that it could be used as COVID care centre.

The MLA also called for fast-tracking the completion process of MCH Hospital at Umran Niangbymai Umsning for using the facility as a COVID care centre in future.

He further requested the chief minister for speedy completion of the COVID screening centres at Byrnihat and Umling.
