NONGPOH: Pahamsyiem village in Ri Bhoi district is all set to have a Corona Care Centre to treat COVID patients.
After inspecting the General Midwifery and Nursing School in the village on Friday, Health Minister AL Hek said that the construction work of the nursing school is almost complete and the project is expected to be inaugurated soon, following which it will be temporarily used as a Corona Care Centre.
The installation of electricity and construction of a 300-metre road are left, Hek added. “The conversion of the institute is temporary as the government wants to leave no stone unturned in combating the pandemic”, he said.
The minister was accompanied by Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem, Director of Health Service (MI) Dr Aman War, Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi RM Kurbah, District Medical and Health Officer, Ri Bhoi, Dr M Mawrie and others. Meanwhile, Syiem lauded the government’s initiative to convert the institute into a Corona Care Center.
The MLA also informed that work on the 300-metre road leading to the institute will resume within next week.
