Man drowns in WKH

NONGSTOIN: A 28-year-old man from Upper New Nongstoin drowned at Weikyllut in Mawrusyiar, West Khasi Hills district on Saturday evening.
The victim, identified as Goldenstar Iawphniaw, was out swimming with his friends when the incident happened around 3 pm.
One of his friends managed to pull him out of the river after his third attempt. His friends performed CPR but failed to bring him back.
The police were informed and the body was brought to Civil Hospital, Nongstoin.
After completing all legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family for last rites.
