SHILLONG: Dr Teibor Rymbai of Bethany Hospital, who tested positive and then negative for COVID-19 within a span of two days, is a “confused” man.
In a Facebook message on Saturday to his “patients, family and friends,” he said he was tested for coronavirus on July 29 as a “precaution” before he resumed his duty at the hospital.
He said the sample was collected by Bethany Hospital staff and it came out positive from NEIGRIHMS laboratory. Sample was again collected by the government two days later on July 31 at MATI, which, however, turned out to be negative.
“It’s quite a confusion for me as what to believe”, he said. Moreover, he said he had antibodies against the corona since April 2020 after he suffered from pneumonia which was diagnosed based on CT scan and antibodies against corona. “Even as of today it still shows I have past infection of Covid-l 9 based on my antibodies test”, he said.
He asked his patients who had come in contact with him from July 21 to 24 to follow government rules and protocols.
“I was here to help, I am here to help. Being a Doctor is a passion for me till I die. I love each and every one of my patients. Any help you need feel free to contact me on facebook, phone, whatsapp. 9774656811”, he wrote.
Meanwhile, DHS (MI) Dr Aman War on Sunday praised Dr Rymbai for declaring his condition adding that although he has tested negative is under quarantine. “Rymbai is a responsible doctor. He has tested negative but is still under quarantine”, War said.
