TURA: For the first time ever, the 74th Independence Day celebration on Saturday at P A Sangma Stadium in Tura will be streamed live on social media.

The initiative is being taken to limit the participation of people in view of the ongoing Covid-19 situation. According to West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh, the celebration has also been cut short as per the directions of the government.

“There will be Rashtriya Salute and National Anthem followed by felicitation of some Covid Warriors. No March past and cultural programs. The attendance is restricted to 30 people on the podium. Senior citizens and children up to age 10 are not allowed in the viewing gallery. We will telecast it on FB Live from 9 am. Please stay at home and watch online if you wish,” Ram Singh informed in a tweet.
