SHILLONG: Meghalaya Health Department will set up COVID screening points in major commercial hubs – Iewduh and Khyndai Lad – in the city taking into account the rapid transmission of COVID-19 in the state of late.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, DHS (MI) Dr Aman War said that the decision to set up the screening points was to detect COVID-19 positive cases who may or may not have symptoms.
Meanwhile, with detection 82 new COVID-19 positive cases the number of active cases in Meghalaya on Sunday stood at 693.
Out of the new cases 20 are in Easy Khasi Hills out of which five are among BSF personnel and 15 others. Nine new cases were detected in Ri Bhoi district, 48 in West Garo Hills district including 39 among the BSF and nine among others
Total active cases in the state are 693 – 383 in East Khasi hills (BSF-71, Armed Force-70, 242-others), three in West Khasi Hills, one in South West Khasi Hills, 100 Ri Bhoi, five in West Jaintia Hills, five in East Jaintia Hills, 183 in West Garo Hills, three in South West Garo Hills, two in South Garo Hills, eight in North Garo Hills.
Total 79 patients recovered on Sunday including 75 in East Khasi Hills -75 (BSF-21, Armed Force-3 and 5 others), three in Ri Bhoi, one in West Jaintia Hills.
So far, 675 patients have recovered while six deaths have been reported due to COVID-19 in the state. and total deceased is 6.
Further, War informed that said a doctor in Bethany Hospital, Teiborlang Rymbai who was tested positive for COVID-19, has recovered. Another doctor from Shillong Civil Hospital has also recovered.
