SHILLONG: NEIGRIHMS has asked the state government to make special arrangement for bringing the engineers who will install the machines for the plasma bank in the hospital.
NEIGRIHMS Director Dr P Bhattacharya said the institute had written to the government to make travel arrangements for the engineers from Guwahati for installation of the machines.
Inter-state travel is prohibited at the moment due to COVID situation and hence the request was made.
“We are working with the state government to resolve the matter,” he said.
After the machines are installed, another group of engineers will need to come to the institute to provide training to the staff to operate machines,” the director said.
“As of now, we don’t have very critical patients who will require this treatment. But such critical cases may come anytime. We are continuously following up with the state government on this matter,” he said.
Earlier, NEIGRIHMS Medical Superintendent, Dr. Noor Topno had informed that the machines which will be installed in NEIGRIHMS are totally different as the machines will take out only the plasma from the donors.
On the number of COVID-19 positive patients at NEIGRIHMS, Dr. Bhattacharya informed that there are nine positive cases at present adding that eight of them are in the isolation ward and one of the patients is in the COVID-19 ICU ward.
“All the staff of NEIGRIHMS who tested positive for COVID-19 have fully recovered from the virus,” he added.
