NGO wants report of wedding party fiasco made public

SHILLONG: The NGO, Ka Sur u Paidbah Ka Bri u Hynniewtrep (voice of the Hynniewtrep people), has demanded that the state government should make public the report of the inquiry carried out against the party revellers at Greenwood Resort, Khanapara, Assam.
Speaking to media persons on Thursday, spokesperson of the organisation, Thomas Passah, said that the persons who flouted the government rules should know that there is a law to handle such violations.
Speaking on the sky-rocketing cases in the state, he said that the government should release the names of the COVID-19 patients but not to reveal their residence.
He added that in places where random tests are conducted, the persons are told to go home after tests are done and are informed that they are positive after 4-5 hours.
“In these 4-5 hours, they must have met scores of people. In fact, the people should have been told to wait and not be allowed to move otherwise the testing centres would be seen as just programme for the government to waste its money”, Passah said.
On the other hand, he said that the state government should refrain from immediate closure of shops as it affects the farmers who do not know about the announcements of the government.
