SHILLONG: The sole proprietor of Life Care Pharmacy, NEIGRIHMS Campus, Paila K Syiemlieh, has termed the allegations against his company made by former institute director , which was reported in this daily under the caption “CBI seeking Centre’s nod…” on August 10, as false and designed to malign the reputation of his firm.
Syiemlieh clarified that the NEIGRIHMS authority floated an open tender for allotment of private pharmacy within their premises and one of the criteria for the settlement was that the highest bidder, that would give the highest discount on MRP of the medicines and surgical items, would be entitled to the tender. “Life Care Pharmacy was one of the bidders and the tender was duly allotted to the company having found his firm capable and suitable for running the pharmacy within the institute premises”, the proprietor said.
Making it clear that there was no foul play either from his side or the concerned department for the settlement of the tender, Syiemlieh said that the entire process was fair and transparent.
Earlier, the news report was carried based on the statement of former NEIGRIHMS Director, Dr DM Thappa, who had said that the institute-run pharmacy was closed in 2016-17 to open the space for private vendor (Life Care Pharmacy) in the institute premises with the help of Deputy Director Administration (DDA) against the advice of the Director in-charge, Dr P. Bhattacharya.
