Warning against identity disclosure of sexual assault victims

TURA: West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police, Dr M G R Kumar has warned of action against anyone identifying victims of sexual offences either directly or indirectly.

“The disclosure of identity of a victim of sexual assault is a punishable offence under Section 228 A of IPC and Section 23 of POCSO Act. Therefore any person involved in the act will be liable for action under the above mentioned acts,” the order issued in this regard warned.
