Poshan Maah launched in SGH

TURA: The Child Development Project Officer, Baghmara Block, in collaboration with the District Administration, on Wednesday launched Poshan Maah in Baghmara of South Garo Hills.
South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, H B Marak, who was the chief guest on the occasion, dwelt at length on the concept of holistic nourishment.
Stressing on the need to achieve improvement in the nutritional status of children from 0-6 years, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers in a time-bound manner with fixed targets, he exhorted the gathering to work hand in hand to achieve the government targets in providing better nutrition and reducing the malnourishment in the district.
The District Horticulture Officer on Convergence with the ICDS department spoke on the importance of setting up of nutri gardens in the Anganwadi centres so as to be able to provide nutritious vegetables and herbs to children and women beneficiaries at every Anganwadi centre.
Earlier, the Child Development Project Officer, Rongara Block, spoke on the objective of the celebration of Poshan Maah and government target laid down to eliminate the problem of malnourishment.
