State gets over Rs 40 crore from Centre

New Delhi: The Centre has released Rs 6,195.08 crore to 14 states including Meghalaya as the sixth equated monthly installment of the Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant as recommended by the 15th Finance Commission.
Meghalaya gets a total of Rs 326.42 crore under this allocation.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that this would provide them with additional resources during the Covid-19 crisis.
The grant was recommended by the 15th Finance Commission, and the Centre has been releasing a fixed amount to states since April. This would provide them additional resources during the corona crisis, a government announcement said.
Seven Northeastern states barring Arunachal Pradesh are among these 14 states that received the grant-in-aid to cover deficit on post-devolution revenue account.
These states include Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim.
An amount of Rs. 631.58 crore was released for the state of Assam followed by Manipur (Rs 235.33 crore), Meghalaya (Rs 40.91 crore), Nagaland (Rs 326.41 crore), Tripura (Rs 269.67 crore) and Sikkim (Rs 37.33 crore).
