MTET teachers want appointment expedited

SHILLONG: A group of teachers under the banner Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET) Qualified Teachers has exhorted the state government to expedite the appointment process of assistant teachers in government schools in the state.
“The MTET examination is done and we are waiting for the personal interview to be conducted and then appoint teachers in the government schools”, Badapjied Kylla, who is the convener of the group, said on Wednesday.
There are 4,570 candidates who have passed the MTET examination in both the Upper Primary (UP) and Lower Primary (LP) level.
“We are making an appeal to the government and it is up to the decision of the state government to hold the interview. We know that government will have a phase-wise reopening of school from September 21. So, I believe that the government will take some action before reopening schools,” Kylla said.
