SHILLONG: The Central Puja Committee to has moved the state government to initiate the process for issuing official permission for holding forthcoming Durga Puja festival beginning October 22.
In a letter to state chief secretary MS Rao on Thursday, CPC general secretary JL Das said that since time was limited, all deputy commissioners be instructed to issue guidelines at an early date conforming to the COVID protocols and SOPs so that the organisers could have enough time to make necessary adjustments accordingly.
About a hundred community and private pujas are performed in all parts of Meghalaya. Shillong alone accounts for nearly 70 of them.
