Meghalaya CM orders immediate possession of additional land for Baljek airport

GUWAHATI: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma today directed the concerned Deputy Commissioner as well as the department to take immediate steps to identify and take possession of additional land for Baljek airport  in Tura as required by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) so as to obtain EOI for flight routes from fight operators.

 

“Discussed matters related to the Baljek Airport. Dept & DC have been directed to immediately undertake identification & taking over possession of additional land as required by  @AAI_Official and obtain EOI for flight routes from flight operators.” Tweeted the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma.

 

The only airport in Garo hills region of Meghalaya has remained non-operational  because of some technical shortcomings for years even though it was constructed long back.
