TURA: The vaccines against Japanese Encephalitis (JE) have already arrived in West Garo Hills while camps would be organised in the respective community halls in all the localities of the district starting October 1, it was informed during a meeting on Thursday.
West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh, on Thursday convened a meeting where discussions were held pertaining to the proposed launching of JE Vaccination Campaign in the district from next week.
The vaccines, which were supposed to be administered to the public in March, was held in abeyance due to COVID-19 lockdown.
Emphasising the importance of the vaccination campaign, Singh advised people to cooperate for immunisation of their children (1 to 15 years) so that they stay healthy in future.
During the meeting, District Maternal and Child Health Officer, Dr Ivonne M Sangma informed that JE vaccines have already arrived in the district and required activities for sensitising the people are being organised.
Stating that announcements would be done from Friday in urban areas, Dr Sangma said that National De-Worming programme would be done synchronously.
With the reopening of schools after months-long hiatus, Dr Sangma said that vaccination campaign would be held at the community-level and camps would be organised in the respective community halls in all the localities of the district with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
