NONGSTOIN:A house and a fast food joint were destroyed in a fire that broke out at Madan Maroid in the wee hours on Saturday.
No person was damaged in the incident.
The Sordar of Madan Maroid, W.L. Mawlong, said that the house belonged to one Delbita Marngar of Maroid.
The fire started at around 3 AM in the morning, with the villagers as well as the owner of the house suspecting electrical short-circuit to have caused the fire.
As the owner of the house had gone away to stay with her sister since the beginning of the lockdown, no one was injured in the incident. “The fire started from the house and spread to the fast food shop,” Mawlong said, adding that the fire service department personnel were helped by the locals to douse the inferno and ensure that it did not spread.
Officials from Block Development Office, Mairang C&RD Block, have visited the site of the fire to conduct an enquiry and also to provide relief to the victim.
