State invokes ESMA to ban strike

SHILLONG: The state government on Wednesday promulgated Meghalaya Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) prohibiting strikes in any essential services in order to prevent any disruption and breakdown of emergency services to the public. There was no indication what prompted the invoking of this power.
