SHILLONG: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) MLA, Adelbert Nongrum, has asked East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner to take measures to solve the traffic congestion in and around Police Bazar, particularly in Keating Road, Fourth Furlong and Lum Survey areas.
The MLA along with officers of Shillong Municipal Board (SMB), Police and PWD, have conducted a survey to study the traffic flow in and around Shillong with emphasis to the feeder flow towards Motphran and Police Bazar.
“We learned that the Keating Road & 4th Furlong areas have the potential of growing into a major commercial hub and the main connecting route. With the growth in commercial activities, these areas have become the source of congestion and shanty dwellings,” he said.
He stated that such activities have become an eyesore as well as nuisance as roads are being encroached with commercial activities.
