NONGPOH, Nov 27: The expelled saffron party leaders in Ri Bhoi have moved national BJP vice-president, Chuba Ao, alleging “dictatorial attitude and functioning” of the state party president, Ernest Mawrie.
The former Mandal presidents of five constituencies in Ri Bhoi, led by former BJP general secretary, Silenstar Rani, also accused Mawrie of expelling them without any justification.
They claimed that Mawrie was not complying with the constitution of the party.
“Despite our best efforts to show him the way of functioning as per the constitution of the party, E Mawrie, as state president, instead expelled us from the party without giving any proper reason,” the former BJP leaders said.
They also sought Ao’s immediate intervention into the matter before the situation takes a turn for worse.
The former party members also alleged that for almost a year now, no Mandal president was appointed for Jirang, Umsning, Umroi, Nongpoh and Mawhati.
They claimed that the practice takes place in other districts as well except East Khasi Hills.
